The farm was founded in land received by Joaquim Gomes Pimentel as heritage from his father, in 1852. The importance Pimentel gives to cultural and social activities can be seen in the regular classes given - music, arts, and religion. A school was built in the area for slaves  ' children and local children in need.

Since 1980, a property of the family of Delio and Clair de Mattos Santos, the farm now also focuses on the production of organic and natural products: jams, preserves, and other products can be bought at the premises or ordered.

The farm is part of the Guided Visitation Program by the Preservale Institute, which aims to promote the preservation of the natural and historical heritage of the Paraíba Valley. The farm is open for tourists and for events such as marriages and parties. It is listed by Instituto Estadual do Patrimônio Cultural-Inepac(State Institute of Cultural Heritage).
