Umbandistas and Candomblecistas Union

Other Attractions - Angra dos Reis

Formed by agents of African culture in Angra dos Reis, the Umbandistas Candomblecistas City Union in Angra dos Reis (Umucar) was founded in 2013. It acts in promoting celebrations as the Iemanjá Feast (a goddess in Brazilian Candomblé and Umbanda religions), on February 2nd, and tributes to Zumbi dos Palmares (a slave who became a symbol of black resistance against slavery), on November 20th. The group organization prepares to present a play that will tell the origin of the world through the history of the orishas. Other plans are to conduct a festival of black culture and to create a carnival group with Afro rhythms.
