The Serviço Social do Comércio do Rio de Janeiro-SESC (Social Service of Commerce of Rio de Janeiro) cultural unit in Teresópolis is located within the1913-built Granado Palace, which was home to Portuguese immigrant José Antônio Granado, owner of the Granado Pharmacies, the first clinical analysis laboratory in the state. It became a cultural center with a 247 seat theater, a library, an exhibition hall, studios for arts workshops, film screening equipment, and internet access. A hotel and sports complex are also part of the unit.
