Serra dos Órgãos National Park

Other Attractions - Teresópolis

The Serra dos Órgãos National Park (Parnaso) was created in 1939 to preserve the landscape and biodiversity of this Rio de Janeiro Mountain Range region. More than 20,000 acres are protected, covering the areas of Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim.

The National Park is one of the best in the country for nature sports such as hiking, climbing  and canyoneering and it also has the longest hiking trails in Brazil: more than 130 kilometers of all levels of difficulty, from the suspended trail, which can be hiked be people with disabilities, to the strenuous Travessia Petrópolis-Teresópolis, a 30 km hike through the higher area of mountains.

The National Park administration is at a building with natural water pools, waterfalls, and great tourist infrastructure, such as parking space, bathrooms, camping sites, picnic areas, shops, snack bars and a library with a small auditorium.
