Professor José Lavaquial Biosca Cultural Center

Cultural Centers - Santo Antônio de Pádua

Professor José Lavaquial Biosca Cultural Center occupies the building of the former Santo Antônio de Pádua's railway station and, besides featuring an important photographic collection of the city, it also houses exhibitions by local and visiting artists, the duration of which may vary between three and six months to one year, depending on the public's response.

One of the most successful exhibitions was a series called "Doces Recordações" (Sweet Memories), a collection of antique toys assembled through donations. The photographic collection of the institution belonged to deceased Marinice Daher and covers all stages of the city's history, with records ranging from the Indians who lived in the city to the damages caused by severe flooding.

The cultural center also receives periodic activities of the State Circuit of Arts, promoted by the State Department of Culture, featuring music and drama workshops. Artistic performances are also held in the center, which was inaugurated on December 3, 2000.
