Founded in 1966 by Father Sebastião Pereira da Silva, the museum documents the way of life in the region between the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. With various pieces, the collection includes manuscripts, publications, photographs, pharmaceutical instruments, household items, transportation, media and artifacts of different types, such as weaving, carpentry and pottery.

 

Among the different types of objects, instruments of torture, personal items, and documents that depict the period of slavery are what call the most attention.
