New Authors Literature Club

Highlights - Volta Redonda

Recognized as a public utility by decree from 1982, the New Authors Literature Club (GLAN)'s main goal is to publicize new writers (in terms of age or passion for poetry and literature). Founded on July 5, 1975, GLAN has among its activities the launch of an annual compilation entitled "Coletânea de Contos e Poesias", whose edition is sponsored by the club's own members.

Also, a competition of short stories and poetry is promoted, every July, with awards for the first to the fifth winners in each category. The contest is an opportunity for the poet to expose his or her work for the first time, which is published on GLAN's website and in the annual collection. To foster a closer contact between new artists and veterans, GLAN also promotes a Poetry Tea Party, every first Saturday of the month, at the Veredas Bookstore

(12 Street, 300, Vila Santa Cecília ), with recitation of poetry and exchange of ideas among the participant lovers of literature. With the project "Falando do Glan e da Poesia" (Talking about GLAN and Poetry), in its turn, public schools in Volta Redonda are visited and discussions about literature in general are promoted. The club also publishes a newsletter called "Econtro de Poetas" (A Gathering of Poets), bimonthly, since 1997, providing information on literary competitions and dissemination of poems written by members and guests.
