In 1959, president Juscelino Kubitschek opened the Grande Mercado de Madureira, commonly known as the "Mercadão". One of the largest popular markets in Latin America, it has more than 300 shops. After the opening of Ceasa, it diversified its product offerings and became known for the large selection of items at accessible prices.

Fátima Dinis, Heliete and Maria Olinda are a trio of traditional herb sellers at the Mercadão - for medicinal, religious or gastronomic applications. They always have new recipes to share and fresh herbs to sell.
