Surrounded by mountains and the lush Atlantic Forest, Goura-Vrindavana is an ecological Hare Krishna village founded in 1984 as a spiritual sanctuary.

Open to visitors, the rural community preaches the lessons left by the Indian master Srila Prabhupada: how simple life is, consciousness in God and respect for nature.

Currently, there are 20 initiates and devotees living in Goura-Vrindavana performing their daily prayers in the beautiful replica of an Indian temple built on the land dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Within the ideal of sustainable development, Goura-Vrindavana has a hydroelectric power plant for power generation. It took about five years to be completed and today it supplies the ecovillage with 20 kva.

The community also maintains a production of dried banana and a sustainable extraction of juçara palm. It still produces homemade breads and it hosts the ones  interested in making a spiritual retreat.
