It is the only circus festival in the Mountains region. It is in its sixth edition, usually it lasts three days, and attracts some 2,000 people, mostly children. It is opened with a procession of artists around the city streets. Presentations include performances of traditional circus techniques, performances by street artists, and troupes of circus-theater, as well as workshops in clown, juggling, acrobatics, and leg-walkers techniques. Schools organize field trips to the event that features a sound structure, a dressing room, a stage and a ring, to receive local groups and groups from neighboring cities, such as Nova Friburgo, Cantagalo, and Rio de Janeiro.

The Circus Festival in DuasBarras is organized by the Associação Centro Cultural Viva (Viva Cultural Center Association), coordinated by Patrick Nogueira, who is also a clown, a juggler, and an acrobat. Patrick has a family troupe, integrated by Gabriela Ribas, his wife, and his son, Davi. The trio performs the sketches "Cabena Mala" and and "Circo Viva", mixing circus, music, theater, storytelling, and popular culture.

Currently, the troupe resides in Nova Friburgo. Besides organizing and participating in the Circus Festival in Duas Barras, they promote road shows around the whole Mountains region. "We map the territory and work to foster the regional cultural circuit through performances and workshops in public spaces", explain Patrick.
