Born in Minas Gerais, Francisco Teixeira da Silva, nicknamed "Chico Voador" (Chico, the Flyer), arrived in Cachoeiras de Macacu when he was 22. In Japuíba, a district of the city, he married Maria Souza da Silva and had eight children.

Self-taught artist, Chico was an art teacher, sculptor, singer, composer, painter, poet, and writer. His work is popular and genuine. At Maria Zulmira Torres Square, in Japuíba, one can find the sculpture "Os caipiras" (The rednecks), a replica of the artist's work made ??by his son and doughter Marciel and Verônica, who are also artists.
