Casual Poetry Fraternity

Highlights - Petrópolis

Created in 2011 by young Petropolis-native writer Catarina Maul, the Confraria da Poesia Informal (Casual Poetry Fraternity, or CPI) is a literary group in which poets and poetry lovers throughout the world gather. Through social networks, CPI members exchange poems and organize monthly soirées with poetry recitation, games and printed poetry exhibitions at Dom Pedro Square or at the Estúdio S de Música (S Recording Studio) in the Quissamã neighborhood.

At the Rio de Janeiro Book Biennial of 2013, the Confraria da Poesia Informal released its first poetry anthology through the Oficina Editores publishers. In such occasions, many members meet for the first time, since the group is active mostly online.

Verses from Petropolis-native writers are published along with the writings of authors from cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, Seropédica, Campos dos Goytacazes, São Paulo, Curitiba and Porto Alegre. The CPI currently has 180 members.
